Morgan Li Client Takes Home 2019 Hospitality Design Award
At the 15th Annual HD Awards in 2019, Morgan Li client Wheelhouse Hotel took home top honors in the magazine’s MIDSCALE + SELECT-SERVICE GUESTROOM category. We were excited to provide furniture, beds, and other custom hospitality solutions for the designer, architect, and award-winning client.
About the 15th Annual Hospitality Design Awards
Held in New York at Cipriani 25 Broadway on June 4, 2019, the 15th annual HD Awards brought in the who’s who of the hospitality design industry to find out who had the best products and projects in 2018/2019. Dozens of categories, thousands of entries, and it all came down to 122 finalists and winners.
From here, it was all down to a jury of leaders in the space, according to the Hospitality Design article:
“A talented and accomplished panel of industry professionals were selected as this year’s jury. For projects: Ave Bradley, creative director and global senior vice president of design, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants; Alexandra Champalimaud, founder, Champalimaud; Jim Merkel, CEO, Rockbridge; Glenn Pushelberg and George Yabu, founding partners, Yabu Pushelberg; and Brad Wilson, president, Ace Hotel Group and Atelier Ace.”
Wheelhouse Hotel Wins 2019 Midscale & Select Service Guestroom Honors
At the 15th Annual HD Awards, it was exciting to see our client’s (or clients’ client) work taking home top honors. The Wheelhouse Hotel (Update, 2021: The Chicago Hotel Collection Wrigleyville) was named the best MIDSCALE + SELECT-SERVICE GUESTROOM in 2019, beating out other amazing players in Life House Hotel Little Havana in Miami and Cyrus Hotel in Topeka.
About The Wheelhouse Hotel
In their profile of the property, HD Magazine celebrated the property’s transformation from the Wrigleyville to the Wheelhouse, celebrating the renovation of the 20th century greystone.
“All 21 guestrooms feature an urban, lofty atmosphere accented in shades such as peach, yellow, orange, and blue. Distinctive layouts ensure a unique experience for all guestrooms, with configurations that include four bunk bed or soaring, 12-foot-tall ceilings. A handful of guestrooms are equipped with balconies, while black and white mosaic floors adorn each bathroom. An expansive rooftop deck and bar crown the property.”
